Some organizations exist primarily online, with their website serving as their main business tool. Others could survive without the web, but have used their websites to expand or streamline their operations. And still others operate primarily offline, but use their websites to maintain a presence online. Here are some sites I've built in each category.

Web-Based Business

I Need a Great Story: E-Commerce

Built a shopping cart with a pre-paid credits system, and a customer account area, driven by a custom CMS with 6000 articles and videos. Automated publishing tasks like thumbnail resizing and video player configuration.

One Place for Special Needs: Social Networking

Streamlined an off-the-shelf social networking package to make it more accessible to users, then seamlessly integrated custom pages for product and resource directories. Integrated with third-party mailing list, payment processing and ad serving systems.

Hello Jackie Joe: Online Dating

Built a custom online dating site that provides a unique, collaborative approach to searching for dates. Integrated with third-party photo capture, video capture and chat systems.

Web-Assisted Business

Johnson Publishing Company: Site Management

Replaced a cumbersome, buggy content management system with a custom administrative system that eliminated repetitive tasks. Connected new subscriptions, back issue orders, online advertising, promotions and customer email from five websites to a single, unified database. Moved websites to a reliable server and managed the redesign of each site's user interface.

Content That Works: Content Management

Built a custom content management system that automatically publishes new content in a half-dozen formats to hundreds of subscribers. Included a customer interface for account management and a public interface for a la carte purchases.

57Grand: E-Commerce

Built a custom e-commerce site that offers unique social tools to its bridal party customers. Integrated with third-party image zooming, tax calculation, inventory and shipping systems.

Money Savvy Generation: E-Commerce

Built a custom e-commerce site that routinely supports traffic spikes from national television coverage. Integrated with third-party mailing list and shipping systems and added blog software to a companion site. Included a warehouse interface for limited access from fulfillment staff.

Online Presence

Since the graphic design is the main feature of these sites, I've noted my design partners for each one.

Workhorse Software

This is a unique, modern design with a main menu and a two-level section menu. Design by Sandstorm Design.

National Adoption Center

This site is much larger and includes drop-down menus. The site includes a variety of content, and affiliate links for an easy way to cover some expenses. Design by Sandstorm Design.

Gradient Design Studio

This very unique design uses the concept of a gradient for its framework. You can hover over the lines for a ripple effect, then click and the menu appears through the lines. All content is preloaded for fast navigation. Design by Greenblatt-Wexler.

Redmond/Research

This project was a design refresh and a move from individual pages to shared page templates. The companion site is a Wordpress blog, customized to match the parent site. Design by gForce Design.
